Camera & Photo Apps on iPhone & iPad

OS devices typically have two cameras, one highresolution camera on the back, and a lower resolution “facetime” or “selfie” camera on the front.We will discuss taking pictures, editing and sharing the results in the camera app. We will then look at the Photos app and learn to organize pictures into albums. Finally we will discuss sharing your photos and albums through iCloud.

This course looks at how to protect your computer and your accounts on the Internet. Do you install updates regularly? What is a firewall and why does Windows tell me it’s off? Looking for something special to do with digital photos of your vacation or family reunion? A digital photo book may be the answer. In this course, learn how to use an online computer program to build a photo book. The book will re-main on the website for you to look at any time you wish, and even to share with friends. You also have the option to order a hard copy of the book. However, the cost of publishing it is not included in this course. Experience using the computer is necessary.

Google provides a wide variety of online services at no cost to the user, including Gmail, Google Docs and Google Maps. In addition, we will cover a variety of other services available through Google. We will create a Gmail account, look at the Google Drive and create different types of documents. Documents in Google Drive can be accessed from any web browser and can be shared with others for collaboration.

Google’s Android operating system is found on phones and tablets from a large number of manufacturers. Prices vary widely with the capabilityof the hardware components of the device. This session will compare some manufacturer models and capabilities. The Android phone can do many of the things that you use your computer for, including email and internet access. We will cover basic Android phone usage to ensure that you can make the best use of the device and talk a bit about all that is available. Steve Jobs from Apple Computers described the iPad as providing a much more personal experience than a computer. The iPad does much the same things as a computer, but the touch inter-face, light device weight, and small screen aid in making the iPad experience more “intimate” than a computer. We will discuss using the iPad as a replacement for a computer, from basic setup to protecting your privacy for shopping and banking. We will discuss: email, texting, the calendar,managing photographs, music, and podcasts using iTunes as well as finding and reading eBooks,magazines and newspapers.

Sending, receiving and replying to email on your iPad is similar to the way you will do it on your computer, but there are differences. In this class, users will learn the basic skills required to work with email on their computer. This includes ways to delete and organize email, as well as sending pictures and documents from your iPad to others. Managing your email contacts will also be covered. This class requires that you bring your own iPad, as well as the email and pass-word used to get into your email account.(Please check with anyone who helped set up your iPad to get this information).
