Whitecourt Safari

Experience guided tours of the pulp, paper and sawmills offered by the Whitecourt & District Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Alberta Newsprint Co and Millar Western with Della. The mill produces about 750 metric tonnes of news-print every day from TMP Pulp and the saw-mill produces about 300 million board feet of kiln-dried dimension lumber per year. This trip includes lunch at Mountain Pizza and Steak House in Whitecourt as well as a stop at the Fallen Four Memorial Park in Mayerthorpe.

All tour participants must ensure they are wearing closed-toed shoes and close-fitting clothing. Long pants are required.  No shorts, dresses, skirts or contact lenses.

Rocky Mountains Safari - SOLD OUT

We’re Off to See...the Majestic Rockies!

Bring your camera, comfortable walking shoes and walking poles (if you have) for this overnight scenic tour with Della. Our first stop will be in Edson at the Guest House Inn for a coffee break.  We arrive in Jasper to pick up our lunch and drive to the Valley of 5 Lakes for a picnic, followed by a leisurely walk through a forest of lodgepole pines, along the lakes and flowery meadows.  Great photo opportunity awaits us at our next stop - Athabasca Falls.  We return to Jasper late in the afternoon for dinner.  In the evening we travel to Edson to spend the night at the Guest House Inn.  After a buffet breakfast at the hotel we pack our bags and check-out of the hotel, board the bus and away we go to enjoy Miette Hot Springs.  After a leisurely soak in the Hot Springs and lunch we meander our way back to Edmonton.

Father Lacombe Chapel & Historic Site S-185

The bus leaves Northgate Lions at 11:30 am and returns by 3:00 pm.

We will start off with a delicious lunch at the 12Acres restaurant where everything you eat is made from scratch! Next stop is the Father Lacombe Chapel and Historic Site. This simple chapel, Alberta’s oldest building, became the centre of the thriving French speaking Metis settlement of St. Albert. Today the chapel has been restored to look much as it did in the early1860’s. Join the historical interpreters who will take you back to an earlier time. Visit the crypt where Father Lacombe and Bishop Grandin are buried, then stroll through the cemetery, the resting place of some of St Albert’s first residents.
